Mary Higgins Clark

Mary Higgins Clark was born Mary Theresa Eleanor Clark on December 24, 1927. She was the only daughter of Irish migrant worker Luke Higgins and his wife, Nora. She was born and raised in the Bronx. Her father passed away when she was only 7. Even at a very young age, Mary was aware of her writing potentials. She completed her first poem at the age of six.

After a period of time Mary was employed as a secretary and later a copy editor. Her greatest passion was in writing. After this job she tried her talents as being a stewardess for the Pan-American airlines. Her life then took a turn for the better and she married and started a family. She increased the family income by writing short stories. After the unfortunate death of her husband, Mary began to compose small radio scripts.

Her friends kept encouraging her to pursue her writing skills. Mary's first novel was not a bestseller. However, she kept pursuing her skills and soon became a well known mystery writer. It was not always an easy task to keep writing day after day. She often would have preferred spending more time with her young family. Some of Mary Higgins novels include "Just Take My Heart," "Where are You Now," "Two Little Girls in Blue," "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "No Place Like Home," "Nighttime Is My Time," "Weep No More My Lady," and "The Second Time." Her daughter, Carol is also a mystery suspense novelist.
